Trade can be a way to make money. Find an area, and visit the cities in said area. Then, go to one of them and hover over the various trade goods to see what can be bought or sold cheaply in some of the towns you've been visiting. Look to buy goods that can be sold for around double or more in other cities.
Question. I have two caravans in operation, yet one of them had its income slowly decrease and then vanish off of the income tooltip (not even in deficit, just not appearing). The caravan leader is still in my clan, and the caravan is stil fully manned and travelling around the map.

Yeah these are great, I liked getting paid 3x for a caravan escort mission as a mercenary (first from the battle winnings and loot, then from the caravan organizer for the mission, then for the influence won in the battle from your mercenary employer).

Caravan is being led by a companion with 80 trade skills (and scouting). The issue is that caravan only makes money every once in a long long while. Most of the time it doesn't take wages and doesn't make income and hence does not show up on ledger. I think the issue might be that caravan is only breaking even on a daily basis.
